We based ourselves in St. Julian’s, staying at both the Hyatt Centric Malta and the Malta Marriott Resort & Spa, and it turned out to be one of the best areas to stay in Malta for exploring the island.

Everything was within walking distance — restaurants, cafés, and the promenade — yet it still felt calm, especially during the low season. The only thing we struggled with was parking, so if you’re renting a car, try to book a Malta hotel with its own garage.

We also spent a lot of time wandering around Valletta, and honestly, we could easily imagine staying there next time. The city has such a unique atmosphere — narrow golden streets, tiny wine bars, and that old-world charm.

The only downside is that there’s no beach nearby, so it’s more about culture and views than swimming.

On the other hand, Gozo completely stole our hearts. It’s quieter, greener, and feels almost like another world compared to the main island. We loved the nature, the slower pace, and how easy it was to find little hidden coves to swim in.
