There are approximately 15 ferries available each day. Moreover, you can choose one of 4 different tour operators – Lomprayah, Songserm, Seatran Discovery, or Koh Tao Booking Center. The prices, arrival and departure ports as well as travel time differ slightly with each company.
Koh Phangan also offers direct ferries to Surat Thani, Koh Tao, and Chumphon.
Koh Phangan to Koh Samui – ferry prices
Lomprayah: 350 THB
Koh Tao booking center: 300 or 700 THB
Songserm: 250 THB
Seatran discovery: 350 THB
When traveling from Koh Phangan to Koh Samui by ferry the cheapest option is Songserm company. One way adult ticket costs only 250THB.
On the other hand Lomprayah and Seatran both offer the same price which is 350THB. Additionally Koh Tao booking center has 2 ferries – slow one for 300THB or a fast one for 700THB.

Lomprayah: 8:00, 11:00, 12:30, 15:30, 16:30
Koh Tao booking center: 09:30, 12:30, 16:00
Songserm: 08:00, 12:00
Seatran discovery: 10:30, 16:30
There are 15 ferries traveling from Koh Phangan to Koh Samui each day. The first ferry departs at 08:00 and the last one departs at 17:30 (Lomprayah). While there’s plenty of boats to choose from, during high season book your tickets in advance.
Koh Phangan to Koh Samui – ferry routes
Lomprayah: Lomprayah office – Na Thon / Maenam
Koh Tao booking center: Haad Rin Queen piers (Koh Phangan & Koh Samui)
Songserm: Thong Sala – Na Thon
Seatran discovery: Thong Sala – Bangrak
As you can see all the ferry companies use different departure / arrival ports. When leaving from Koh Phangan Lomprayah, Songserm and Seatran use the same pier which is in Thong Sala.
In case you’re staying in Haad Rin area consider traveling with Koh Tao booking center since they depart directly from Haad Rin beach.
When choosing a ferry consider where you’re staying on Koh Samui. For example closest ports to Chaweng are Bangrak and Haad Rin Queen pier.
On the other hand Na Thon pier is the furthest from Chaweng and Lamai area. Maenam can be found somewhere in between.

Koh Phangan to Koh Samui – travel time
Lomprayah: 30 minutes
Koh Tao booking center: 30 or 50 minutes
Songserm: 1 hour
Seatran discovery: 45 minutes
The fastest ferry is provided by Lomprayah and Koh Tao booking center since the journey only takes 30 minutes.
Additionally, you can travel with Seatran discovery which is gonna take 45 minutes. There is also a slow boat by Koh Tao booking center. Optionally you can also travel with Songserm which takes 1 hour.

Since all the ferry providers mentioned here have mostly good reviews, you shouldn’t be worried about the service. When considering price / travel time I would say Lomprayah and Songserm are your best option.
Moreover they travel to 3 different ports on Koh Samui. It’s certainly very convenient no matter where on Koh Samui you’re staying.
While you can save 100THB when traveling with Songserm, it’s gonna take the longest. But it is up to you if you prefer to pay slightly more to arrive sooner.
I would not really recommend Koh Tao booking center’s fast ferry since it’s by far the most expensive option. For 30 minutes ride you’ll pay double price when compared to other companies.
Where to book tickets
As soon as you will arrive to Koh Phangan you will notice there are booking offices everywhere. It’s really easy to find someone who can help you organize the trip to Koh Samui. Usually these offices also provide transport to/from pier if you’re interested.
