Leke Leke Waterfall is a tall, narrow fall surrounded by mossy cliffs and lush jungle. It’s one of those places that’s easy to fall in love with, especially if you enjoy nature and taking great photos.

We were eager to visit since it’s considered one of the best things to do in Bedugul, and it’s also on our list of the best Ubud waterfalls. Our original plan was to come right after sunrise from Bedugul to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and avoid the crowds.

However, Nika had some stomach issues, so we had to change our plans and head there from Ubud instead, which is a bit further, but still totally manageable.

We arrived later than we had planned, so the waterfall was already busy with people taking their time to get the perfect shots. Even though we weren’t alone, the natural beauty and quiet jungle surroundings made it worth the visit.

We visited mid-morning and had to wait a few minutes in a short line for photos. Parking wasn’t a problem at all; it’s free and just a short walk from the entrance. The entrance fee is 50,000 IDR per person, and payment is only accepted in cash.

The best time to visit is early morning when the light is soft and there’s a good chance you’ll have the place almost to yourself.

Although it’s not stroller or wheelchair-friendly due to steps and some uneven parts, the trail is manageable for most people.

The rocks at the base of the waterfall are slippery, so be cautious when getting close. Additionally, there’s no designated changing area, so keep that in mind.

Where is Leke Leke Waterfall

Leke Leke Waterfall is located about 25 minutes from Bedugul and around 1 hour from Ubud. It’s easy to reach by scooter or car, sitting just off the main road between two towns near the village of Antapan.

The road to the parking area is in good condition and suitable for all vehicles. If you’re coming from Ubud, try to leave early to avoid traffic on the way.

By scooter

Riding a scooter is the most convenient way to explore Bali, hands down. It gives you full flexibility, allowing you to stop wherever you want.

If you’re planning to stay in Bali for a while, it’s best to rent a scooter right after you arrive and keep it for your whole vacation, as we did.

If you didn’t rent one at the airport or your previous stop, no worries — it’s super easy to rent one in Ubud too.

The average daily price for a 125cc scooter is approximately 100,000 IDR, depending on the rental duration and the bike’s condition. Just make sure you’re confident on Bali’s roads — traffic can be chaotic and narrow in places, especially around Canggu.

By private driver

If you’re not comfortable driving yourself, hiring a private driver is a stress-free option. It’s especially a great choice for families or a group of friends who don’t want to rent multiple scooters. Drivers will wait for you while you explore the waterfall, so you can take your time.

Opening hours

Leke Leke Waterfall is open daily from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM. If you plan to visit at sunrise, please make sure you pay the entrance fee once the ticket booth opens. Supporting the local community is essential to keeping places like this accessible and well-maintained.

If you’re visiting closer to closing time or in the evening, the booth may already be closed. In that case, it’s understandable that paying might not be possible, but we always encourage travelers to be mindful of giving back when they can.

When we visited mid-morning, the parking area was spacious and easy to access — no stress or hunting for spots. The fee of 50,000 IDR per person is collected at the entrance; there are no hidden costs or mandatory extras.

What to expect

The hike to Leke Leke waterfall is short but scenic. It took us around 10 minutes to get down and about 15–20 minutes on the way back, mostly because of the 400+ steps.

The trail is well-maintained with handrails almost all the way, making it safe even after rain.

Just after the entrance, you’ll pass a set of Balinese swings set up for photos. They charge 200,000 IDR for a ride — we skipped it as the price felt too much just for a swing, but if it’s your thing, go for it.

On the way down, the path leads you through the jungle past a bamboo gate and a small wooden bridge just before the falls. The setting is peaceful, and the jungle feels alive with the sounds of birds and rushing water.

When we arrived, there was a short queue for photos, but people were respectful and the line moved quickly.

The waterfall itself is tall and narrow, flowing into a shallow pool framed by mossy cliffs and lush greenery.

The water was cold and refreshing — we didn’t swim but dipped our feet, and it felt amazing after the walk.

The water level was between knee and hip deep, making it suitable for a short swim. After heavy rains, the water might rise slightly, but it usually remains safe and calm. While it’s not a deep plunge pool, it’s still a great spot to cool off and enjoy the moment.

There’s a small bench near the base where you can rest or use it as a changing spot if needed, though there’s no proper changing room.

If you’re planning drone shots, this place is perfect — flying is allowed, but there is not much space around because of dense jungle.

Overall, Leke Leke Waterfall is an easy and rewarding adventure in North Bali, and a great stop if you’re combining it with other nearby spots like Nungnung Waterfall or Banyumala Waterfall.

At the entrance area, there’s a small restaurant with a nice jungle view — and surprisingly fair prices.

Most dishes were between 30,000 and 50,000 IDR, which is quite affordable considering it’s a tourist spot. It’s a good place to grab a drink or a quick lunch after the hike. There are also toilets available near the entrance.

Best time to visit Leke Leke Waterfall

The best time to visit Leke Leke is early in the morning, ideally around 7 AM. The light is soft, the trail is shaded, and you’re much more likely to have the place all to yourself.

We arrived around 9 AM, and there was a short queue for photos.

If you visit later in the day, the light can be harsher for photography and the trail gets warmer — especially on sunny days. Sunset is also a good option if you want to avoid crowds.

Photography tips

The light is best early in the morning or late in the afternoon when shadows are soft and the contrast isn’t too harsh. We visited mid-morning, and while the light was a bit strong, we still got nice results with some minor editing.

There are a lot of leaves around the waterfall, so it’s an excellent opportunity to use them as a natural foreground to frame your shots creatively.

If you’re a couple or solo traveler, don’t forget to bring a tripod — there’s plenty of space to set it up safely.

For the best results and the quietest atmosphere, aim to arrive around sunrise. It’s peaceful, the light is soft, and you’ll likely have the spot almost to yourself.

Final thoughts

Leke Leke Waterfall might not be the tallest or most powerful waterfall in Bali, but it’s definitely one of the prettiest.

We really liked how clean and well-maintained the trail was, and even during the day, it didn’t feel overcrowded.

It’s not a place where you’ll spend hours, but it’s perfect for a short adventure, a quiet moment in nature, or getting that classic Bali waterfall photo.
