Getting from Surigao to Siargao is pretty straightforward, but choosing the right ferry is less obvious. Several companies operate the route, departure times and fares differ, and while most ferries arrive at Dapa Port, there’s also a service to Del Carmen.
We took the ferry from Surigao to Siargao (after traveling from Cebu with a night ferry) ourselves with Evaristo, so in this guide we’ll combine our experience with the latest 2026 schedules, fares, ports, and booking options.
Most crossings take around 1.5–2 hours, and we’ll also explain which ferry makes the most sense depending on your arrival time, budget, or whether you’re bringing a vehicle.
Surigao to Siargao Ferry Overview
Most ferries from Surigao to Siargao leave from Surigao City Ferry Terminal and arrive at Dapa Port. The main exceptions are SJ&G, which departs from Surigao City Boulevard and also runs a service to Del Carmen.

We’d use 12Go to check and book Evaristo, JP Shipping, Romans Road, Vince Gabriel, and Siargao Adventures.
For SJ&G, check their official Facebook page before traveling. They regularly post schedule changes, rough-sea warnings, and cancellations there.
Montenegro is not currently bookable on 12Go; the only recent schedule and fares we found online were through Pamasahe. They note that schedules may change, so we’d reconfirm Montenegro before travel.
Other local ferries may also operate between Surigao and Siargao, but their schedules and fares are not published consistently enough online for us to recommend planning around them.

Which Ferry Should You Take?
For most travelers, we’d choose Evaristo. It’s one of the fastest options at around 1.5 hours, has several departures throughout the day, and you can book it online through 12Go. We used Evaristo ourselves and would happily take it again.
If Evaristo doesn’t fit your schedule, we’d choose based on this:
- Earliest departure: Vince Gabriel at 04:30
- Fastest crossing: Evaristo or JP Shipping at around 1h 30m
- Cheapest current fare: Siargao Adventures at ₱324
- Most departure options: Evaristo and Romans Road
- Taking a car or motorcycle: Montenegro RORO
- Going to Del Carmen instead of Dapa: SJ&G
For most visitors staying in General Luna, we’d stick with a ferry to Dapa Port. Del Carmen makes more sense if you’re staying on the western or northern side of Siargao.
When we traveled with Evaristo, there were three seating options available at the port: covered outdoor Tourist Class, indoor Tourist Class with AC, and Business Class. The exact options depend on which vessel is used, and not every class may be available to book online.
Where to Buy Ferry Tickets
You can buy most Surigao–Siargao ferry tickets online through 12Go or directly at the port. We’d book online if you already know your travel date, especially if you need a specific departure time.
Booking online
12Go currently sells tickets for Evaristo, JP Shipping, Romans Road, Vince Gabriel, and Siargao Adventures. One thing to keep in mind is that some departures only appear a short time in advance, so if your date isn’t available yet, it doesn’t necessarily mean the ferry isn’t running.

Buying tickets at the port
We bought our Evaristo tickets directly at Surigao City Ferry Terminal. This can be useful if you want more flexibility or if the exact seating class you want isn’t shown online.
If you’re buying on the day, we’d arrive early rather than relying on the last available seats, especially for a departure you really need to catch. It’s a popular route used both by tourists and locals, so the ferries can sell out.
Surigao Departure Ports & Boarding Process
Most ferries to Siargao leave from Surigao City Ferry Terminal, while SJ&G uses a separate departure point on Surigao City Boulevard.
Surigao City Ferry Terminal
This is the main departure point for Evaristo, JP Shipping, Romans Road, Vince Gabriel, Siargao Adventures, and Montenegro.
If you’re arriving in Surigao by ferry from Cebu, the connection is particularly easy. Our Cebu ferry dropped us off just a 5-minute walk from the terminal.
If you haven’t booked online, there are ticket booths near the entrance where you can buy your ferry ticket. After buying ours, we paid the ₱30 terminal fee per person.
Next, we went through a security check similar to an airport, although there were no liquid restrictions like you’d have when flying.
After security came the baggage check. We showed our ferry tickets, and staff checked and weighed our bags. We could keep our backpacks with us, but larger suitcases had to be handed over before boarding and were returned after arriving in Siargao.
From there, we entered the waiting area until boarding was announced. The terminal is simple but has everything you need: AC and fans, free toilets, seating, and a few shops selling hot food, snacks, drinks, and souvenirs. You’ll also find small food stalls outside.
Once boarding started, we headed to the assigned gate with our tickets ready. On the smaller Evaristo ferry we took, larger luggage was stored in a designated area and could only be collected after arriving in Siargao.
Surigao City Boulevard
SJ&G departs from Surigao City Boulevard rather than the main ferry terminal. The docking point is directly in front of Tavern Hotel, and ticketing is handled there as well. There is no terminal fee.
Their current departures are:
- 05:30 to Dapa Port
- 11:00 to Del Carmen Port
We’d check the official SJ&G Facebook page before traveling, as they post current schedules as well as updates when rough seas or other conditions affect sailings.
Siargao Arrival Ports & Transport
Most ferries from Surigao arrive at Dapa Port, while SJ&G also operates a separate service to Del Carmen.
Dapa Port
Dapa is the most convenient arrival port if you’re staying in General Luna, which is where most visitors base themselves.
After arriving, collect any checked luggage before leaving the port. You’ll find tricycles and other local transport outside for the journey to General Luna.
It tooks us roughly 30–40 minutes for Dapa to General Luna. A private tricycle is currently around ₱250–300 for the vehicle.
Del Carmen Port
SJ&G’s 11:00 departure from Surigao City Boulevard goes to Del Carmen instead of Dapa. It makes more sense if you’re staying around the western or northern side of Siargao.
If you’re staying in General Luna, Dapa is the more convenient arrival port. Choosing Del Carmen means adding a longer transfer across the island.
Taking a Car or Motorcycle to Siargao
If you want to bring your own car or motorcycle to Siargao, Montenegro Shipping Lines is the option we’d use. Unlike the passenger fastcrafts, Montenegro operates a RORO ferry, so vehicles can be driven onto the ship and transported to Dapa.
Current published rates list a motorcycle at ₱2,160 and a bicycle at ₱540. These vehicle fares can also change with fuel surcharges.
Unless you specifically need your own vehicle on Siargao, we wouldn’t bring one just for convenience — motorcycles are easy to rent after arriving on the island.
FAQ
Yes. Rough seas and bad weather can delay or cancel departures, sometimes at short notice. SJ&G is particularly good at posting current sea conditions and cancellations on its official Facebook page.
If SJ&G cancels because of rough seas, we’d take that as a warning that other ferries may also be affected. However, don’t assume every company has cancelled — check with your operator or ask directly at Surigao City Ferry Terminal.
We’d arrive at least 1 hour before departure, especially if you’re buying your ticket at the port. Evaristo also recommends arriving at least one hour before departure, with boarding gates closing 30 minutes before departure.
Yes. Evaristo, JP Shipping, Romans Road, Vince Gabriel and Siargao Adventures can currently be booked online through 12Go.
Yes. You can also buy tickets directly at Surigao City Ferry Terminal. That’s what we did with Evaristo.
Buying at the port may also give you access to more seating options than you see online, depending on the vessel.
The same main operators also run ferries in the opposite direction from Dapa to Surigao City, but departure times are different. We’d check the latest return schedule on 12Go or directly with the operator.
You can also ask about the current return schedule when you arrive in Siargao and plan your trip back around that.

Final Thoughts
For most travelers, taking the ferry from Surigao to Siargao is the easiest and most practical option. There are plenty of departures throughout the day, most ferries arrive directly in Dapa, and the crossing usually takes just 1.5–2 hours.
We took Evaristo and would choose it again because of the shorter crossing and several daily departures. But there isn’t one ferry that is best for everyone — your arrival time, budget, preferred port, or whether you’re bringing a vehicle can make another company a better choice.
